The 25-year-old Australian tennis star looked flabbergasted when presenter Georgie Tunny asked him about his sex symbol status and compared his features to those of a rat.
“Did you know you’ve been voted Australia’s sexiest rodent boyfriend?” he said in his hard-hitting interview.
The hunky star, who is currently dating British tennis champion Katie Boulter, 28, appeared to be taken aback by the backhanded compliment.
“No, I didn’t know that. I don’t know if I should be happy about it or take it as a little mockery,” he replied.
Georgie assured him that the award “was a compliment.”
According to social media influencers, ‘hot rodent boyfriends’ are the aspirational partner for heterosexual women under 25.
On the Internet they are described as “unconventional and attractive” and often “skinny and skinny.”

The awkward exchange comes after Alex and his girlfriend Katie revealed the tricks they used to keep their romance a secret in the early stages of their courtship.
The Australian and Briton have been together since 2020 and melted the hearts of sports fans last year when they teamed up in the mixed doubles at Wimbledon.
In a video for Tennis TV in April, the couple confirmed that they initially hid their relationship from their fellow players and the public.
Katie began: ‘Remember that time when we ate breakfast at separate tables?’
The awkward exchange comes after Alex and his girlfriend Katie revealed the tricks they used to keep their romance a secret in the early stages of their courtship. They both appear in the photo.
Alex replied, “That was in the beginning. We used to go to breakfast at different times.”
The blonde later confirmed that it was often “different times, like 10 minutes later.”
Alex, who is clearly enjoying the trip down memory lane, added that it was a deliberate strategy to “avoid speculation.”
“It’s so true that people wouldn’t notice,” Katie replied.
This comes after Alex broke into the top 10 for the first time earlier this year, while Katie achieved a career-high ranking of No. 27 on the WTA Tour in March.
Engagement rumours of the couple continue to circulate, with Boulter seen sporting a ring while sitting courtside during one of De Minaur’s matches at the Australian Open in January.
Alex will partner Australian champion Nick Kygrios in a double-header exhibition in New York called the Ultimate Tennis Showdown over the weekend.
