Angry witnesses screamed and chased a woman as she fled the scene with her dog after it savagely attacked a puppy to death.
The owners of the deceased Maltipoo, Andrea Jadgeo and AJ Tay, said the woman’s large dog appeared “out of nowhere” without a leash when it attacked at Second Beach in British Columbia, Canada, on Monday afternoon.

When the larger dog finally released its victim, the owner fled the scene and was followed by witnesses, who recorded her ordering her to “get back here.”
Andrea and AJ’s dog, named Sky, was declared dead at a vet’s office and they are now calling for the owner to come forward and take responsibility.

Owners AJ Tay and Andrea Jagdao said their family was “devastated” by the loss of their beloved dog, and called on the owner to turn herself in.
Jagdeo said she, AJ and their children were enjoying their afternoon at the beach and walking Sky when the tragedy occurred.
“This big dog, literally out of nowhere, off leash, lunged between me and my daughter,” she told CTV News.
Witness Harmony Hemmelgarn filmed the chaotic scene as bystanders struggled to help and described the moment as “absolutely horrific”.

Jagdeo said her beloved pet was only freed when a witness started kicking the larger dog, and she and AJ were seen running with Sky in their arms as a good Samaritan took them to a vet.
“I screamed at her that I loved her and that she should stay with us,” he added.
Horrifying footage captured the moment the larger dog attacked Sky, as children screamed in terror and witnesses desperately tried to push them away.
The owner of the larger dog immediately fled the scene, prompting passersby to follow her.

Tay and Jagdao are seen carrying Sky away after she was attacked. “I screamed at her that I loved her and to stay with us,” Jagdao said.
As they rushed to the vet, other witnesses chased the owner of the larger dog as she fled the gruesome scene.
Hemmelgarn, one of the people who chased the owner, called his behavior “extremely disrespectful” and said she is “responsible for the dog’s behavior.”
AJ called on the woman to “surrender” and called her escape from the scene a “great act of cowardice.”
The parents said they were particularly disturbed by the number of children, including their own, who had to watch the puppy being torn apart and mutilated to death.
“No one should ever have to see that,” Jagdeo said. “They saw things they should never have to see, and to see it with our own daughter is heartbreaking.”
While it is not always illegal for dog owners to remain at the scene of an attack, animal rights advocate Victoria Shroff told CTV that potential punishments vary significantly.
“People may face anything from a municipal ordinance fine to criminal charges,” he said. “And everything in between, as well as a civil suit for damages.”
AJ called on the woman to “surrender” and called her escape from the scene a “great act of cowardice.”
Sky’s heartbroken owners said the loss of their beloved pet “has broken us all… no one deserves to feel that way.”
Following the brutal and fatal attack on Sky, Tay said that “there needs to be stricter regulations in this regard.”
“More needs to be done to ensure that people who own these dogs go through some kind of training,” he said.
Jagdeo argued that “charges should be brought” against the dog’s owner, adding: “She made a choice. She made a choice to take the dog off the leash. She made the choice and she should suffer the consequences.”
Vancouver police say they have opened an investigation into the incident along with Vancouver Animal Services, but at the time of writing the dog’s owner had not come forward.
Jagdeo said his family was devastated and that the loss of Sky “has devastated us all… no one deserves to feel that way.”
