It’s been forty-five years since she shot to fame running along a Mexican beach sporting a deep golden tan, wearing a shiny gold one-piece swimsuit and her hair in beaded braids.
Just 23 years old at the time, she was heralded by fans and media outlets around the world as the “perfect woman,” with her high cheekbones, symmetrical face, sky-blue eyes, and stunning figure.
Nearly five decades later, the petite blonde, sporting a green floral blouse, white linen pants, canvas sneakers and dark sunglasses, went completely unnoticed as she waited patiently for her salad at the Field + Fort cafe in Summerland, California.

Nearly five decades after becoming a Hollywood icon, this actress went virtually unnoticed while shopping in Summerland, California, last weekend.
Now 67, the movie star has aged gracefully and looked fit and healthy during the outing.
Still as beautiful as ever at 67, Hollywood veteran Bo Derek seemed to relish her anonymity.
She watched as other customers lined up near her to order their food, smiling at their dogs and seeming to simply enjoy people watching.
Bo was what locals in Summerland and Montecito call a “heat refugee” from the nearby Santa Ynez Valley, where she lives with her second husband, John Corbett, 63, on a 10.5-acre ranch.
That day, temperatures in Santa Ynez reached a sweltering 109°F, so it’s no surprise that she and a friend hopped in their car and headed 36 miles south to Summerland, which sits along the coast just south of Montecito and is at least 25-30 degrees cooler in the summer.
“Ah, I love the sea breeze,” Bo was heard telling her friend as she lifted her famous face to take a deep breath.
After lunch, the two stopped by the retail section of Field + Fort, where they spotted Bo browsing the Flamingo Estates section, which sells books, candles, soaps and lotions.
They were later seen visiting nearby Mary Suding Antiques on Lillie Avenue.

The two friends spent more than an hour before leaving and heading towards Santa Barbara.
Bo rose to fame in the 1979 film 10, alongside Dudley Moore, whose character becomes obsessed with her after seeing her at her wedding and follows her and her new husband to Mexico.
The film’s title refers to Moore’s rating of Derek’s appearance on a scale of one to ten.
And Bo has pretty much maintained that rating as she’s gotten older, choosing to forgo plastic surgery and age naturally.

She said she is enjoying her life with Sex and The City actor Corbett at his ‘Cliff Manor’ ranch in Santa Ynez: ‘We have a beautiful house with horses and dogs.’
Bo keeps his 5-foot-3 figure in shape not by going to the gym, but by swimming and just doing work around the ranch, he says.
Derek and his second husband, John Corbett, 63, currently live in the Santa Ynez Valley on a 10.5-acre ranch.
