Danish singer Whigfield, 54, real name Sannie Charlotte Carlson, became a household name thanks to her hit single Saturday Night, which reached number one in the UK for the singer upon its release in 1994.

It proved to be their biggest hit on British shores and even got its own dance routine, becoming a staple at primary school discos and family parties across the country.

Whigfield was just 25 when the chart-topping song was released, but three decades later and now in her fifties, the star looks as youthful as ever.

On Saturday, the singer delighted fans with a series of snaps on Instagram from her performance at Pride events in Glasgow and Newcastle.

The singing sensation completed her extravagant look with thigh-high pink boots.

In another snap from one of her Pride performances, she looked incredible in a bejeweled outfit and fishnet stockings.

She also shared a photo of herself posing excitedly backstage with drag queen Miss Rory.

The singer joked in her caption: “Thank goodness what a Saturday. Had a blast yesterday at @glasgows_pride, @barrowland_ballroom and @newcastlepride.”

Whigfield previously said she was “really honoured” that Saturday Night became so popular, but wishes she had been more prepared for its sudden rise to fame.

She said: “The secret is to do everything differently than you did in the 90s. I sleep every night at 10, I eat healthy and I exercise every day. I’m not a naughty girl anymore.”

Reflecting on life away from the spotlight, Whigfield also revealed that he lives just outside Milan in the Italian countryside.

She said: ‘In the old days I was very busy. Sometimes I was promoting three singles at the same time. It was crazy. Now I stop and smell the roses.’

The singer admitted she has turned her back on mainstream music in recent years and has instead chosen to focus on the vibrant international club scene.

He added: “I’ve been making house music for the last three years. I’ve been writing music for other DJs.”

Whigfield previously said she felt “really honoured” that Saturday Night became so popular, but wishes she had been more prepared for its sudden rise to fame.

“I wish someone had prepared you for these things, because you’re kind of pushed into all of that,” he said. 9Honey.

‘You need a strong personality and I think you have to be sure of what you do.

“Because I love being on stage. I really enjoy it and I love the audience.”
