A father on Long Island in New York was stabbed to death by his adult son during a Zoom video chat with nearly two dozen other men who took part in the live stream.

72-year-old Dwight Powers from Amityville, NY, was at home in a Zoom chat set up for an anonymous meeting with alcoholics and Thursday with 20 other men when he was stabbed to death allegedly by his son Thomas Scully-Powers, 33, the police say.

Scully-Powers reportedly appears naked in the Zoom feed after the murder as participants scramble to notify authorities.

Police called home said the son opened the door, slapped him in the face, and fled through a window before being caught moments later, WABC reports.

Participants in the Zoom chat first noted that something had gone wrong when they saw Powers fall during the feed, police say.

Moments later they saw his son appear naked in the feed.

One of the participants called police, but was unable to provide an address for Powers. Others in the Zoom chat were able to find out the victim’s name and location about 10 to 15 minutes later.

When the police got home, they said Scully-Powers opened the door, slammed it, and escaped through a window.

The suspect was caught about a mile away, police say.

Scully-Powers was taken to Suffolk County Police Station.

He is expected to be charged later on Thursday evening.
