People looking for the perfect, budget-friendly turkey for Thanksgiving dinner will love this TikTok video.
Joni Blackstone, a culinary fan and content creator, showed viewers a trick to “guarantee the perfect turkey for your family this year.”
According to Blackstone, the key to this perfection revolves around brining the turkey.
“This is to season the inside of the turkey, and what that’s going to do is make sure you get a nice, even flavor,” he said.
All Blackstone needed to prove it was a Fire & Flavor Cajun Turkey Perfect Brine Kit from Amazon, valued at $10.92.
Joni Blackstone posted a TikTok video showing people how to make the perfect budget-friendly turkey for Thanksgiving

Blackstone used a Fire & Flavor Cajun Turkey Perfect Brine Kit from Amazon. He also said people can use a Kinder’s Butcher’s Turkey Brine Kit from Sam’s Club, which will work just as well
“To start, we’re going to boil four gallons of water so we can make the brine,” Blackstone said.
The TikToker used a stainless steel pot for this, which is perfect for brining turkey because it is a non-reactive container that keeps the turkey from tasting like metal.
He continued, “While we prepare the turkey, this (water) has plenty of time to cool so we don’t have to wait for it.”
Blackstone added a cup of sugar and the brine mixture once the water began to boil.
“You just want to make sure it’s completely resolved. Once it’s completely dissolved and you know it’s done, you can let it cool,” he said.
Blackstone got his hands dirty when he opened the first of two eight-pound turkeys he planned to use for brining.
He began cleaning it with his hands to remove the bag of gizzards and the neck, and suggested that people who brine their own turkey empty it before continuing the process.
After placing both turkeys breast side down in a huge plastic bag, Blackstone prepared to put the brine in the bag.
To make it faster, he added ice cubes to the jar as soon as he removed it from the hot surface.

Cleaning the turkey is an important part of ensuring that the brine helps with seasoning and that it can be stored safely in a plastic bag overnight

Once done, the turkey is perfect for any family Thanksgiving meal
“Once your brine is nice and cool, we’re going to dump it on the turkey,” Blackstone said.
To make his hack work, he said the entire turkey had to be covered, and he even filled the bagged turkey with more water.
He added: ‘Just close the bag and make sure you remove any excess air.’
Unfortunately, the hack won’t work anytime soon: people using this method will need to leave the turkey in the brine overnight.
According to Blackstone, once the salt is absorbed by the turkey, it will help retain moisture in the bird and prevent the meat from drying out.
