A judge’s wife allegedly shot and killed her nephew in an argument while he was in her home desperately trying to grab the gun.
James Wolfe, 40, was shot in the chest at the home of his uncle, Harris County Justice of the Peace Bob Wolfe, 72, around 9:20 p.m. Thursday.
Bob’s wife, Mei Wolfe, 48, was charged with murder for allegedly grabbing a gun during an argument, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said.
The elder Wolfe called 911 when the situation escalated and tried to grab the gun after Mei allegedly returned to the room brandishing it, but it was too late.

James began traveling in Europe after graduating college, but recently returned to Houston and was living with his uncle.
Police said Mei did not get along with her nephew and described the situation between them as “an ongoing dispute.”
“It may have been a situation where the owner of the house felt like she was no longer welcome and a riot broke out because of that,” Gonzalez said.
“She pulled out a gun and something happened during the altercation, and she fired one shot, hitting the nephew.”

Bob has practiced law since 1983 and was elected Justice of the Peace in Harris County.

James’ social media profiles show him posing with a king’s guard in London, drinking Guinness in Dublin and touring the 101st Airborne Museum in Belgium.
He also visited historic buildings and cathedrals in Cologne and other parts of Germany, Amsterdam and the beaches of Normandy during World War II.
Mei was held in the Harris County Jail on $100,000 bail.
