A New York City man reportedly murdered his 78-year-old mother with a meat cleaver and put on top of her lifeless body when police arrived at their apartment.
Authorities sent to an apartment in Queens on Saturday morning after receiving reports from an unconscious woman.
But QNS reports that officers found a blood trail leading to the fourth-floor apartment at Carmelita Cabansag.
Officers knocked on the front door and were greeted by her son, 48-year-old David Galicia.
Galicia was reportedly covered in blood, but allowed the officers into the apartment.
Second, Galicia would have walked to his mother’s body and lay on top of it.

Two knives were found on the floor next to Cabansag, and she was pronounced dead on the spot in response to medics.
Cabansag’s body was taken to the medical examiner’s office for autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
Galicia was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital with stab wounds to his chest and body.
Galicia was transported for interrogation in the NYPD 108 Precinct and is said to have confessed to the murder, “reports the New York Post.

According to the New York Daily NewsCabansag is a COVID-19 survivor whose husband died a few years ago.
Juan Velasquez, the building’s 51-year-old inspector, said Cabansag was recovering.
“She’s only been quarantined. This is crazy, ”he said.
A neighbor described Cabasag as ‘a very good lady’ who still worked despite her age.

The security footage recorded two men who broke glass at the front entrance of the apartment during the incident entrance
“She told me stories about family members she would help in the Philippines. I think that’s why she was still working, ”they said.
Velasquez said that surveillance footage had two men breaking glass at the main entrance at about the same time as Cabansag’s death.
It is unclear whether those two men were somehow involved in Cabansag’s death.
“They went crazy, ran like crazy. I had to call the police, “said a neighbor who saw the men.
A connection between the two events has not been revealed.
