On Monday morning, the body of a woman was found on Wangetti beach, north of Cairns, and the police are asking for any information that might help her find her killer.
The woman, 24 years old, had driven to the beach to walk her dog on Sunday between 2 in the afternoon and 2:30 in the afternoon.
She was found on Monday morning between the beach and the start of Bushland, and her death is being treated like murder, Sergeant Major Ed Kinbacher told reporters.
Kinbacher said the area it was located in was not a popular area, and he has asked the locals to report any concerns about suspicious people on the beach.
The detective also said that the woman would have stood out because "she was with a big dog and long blond hair with a purple tint".
A 24-year-old woman was found dead on Wangetti beach (pictured), north of Cairns.
"No young woman should go to the beach to walk her dog and let this happen to them," he said.
The woman's parents are & # 39; & # 39; obviously devastated by the circumstances & # 39; & # 39; said Kinbacher. & # 39; This is a shocking event & # 39;
"It was 800 m north of the southern access point, and there are only two access points in Wangetti," he said.
It is a quiet beach. I am not aware of any historical problems with this area.
"Anyone who has had any concerns about the people they have seen on the beach in recent months, please, let them know."
Anyone with information should call Crimestoppers at 1800 333 000.
