A 15-year-old British boy stabbed his parents in front of shocked tourists and threw himself into a 50-foot canyon on Tenerife yesterday.
The boy tried to commit suicide near a bus station after stabbing his parents in front of bars and restaurants in Costa Adeje in the south of the island.
Paramedics rushed to the stage and the boy's mother was taken to a nearby A&E while his father was taken to the university hospital on the other side of the island.
The teenager would be in a very serious condition in another hospital. He is not formally detained but is guarded by agents of the national police.

At this stage it is treated as a case of domestic violence within the family and it is believed that the mental state of the teenager has contributed.
The family is supposed to live on Tenerife instead of on vacation.
A spokesperson for the Spanish National Police said: & I can confirm an attack with a sharp object thought to have been a knife in the Costa Adeje area.
& # 39; The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon.
& # 39; The suspicious author is the teenage son of the two victims. All three are British and live on the island.
& # 39; After the incident, the teenager would have tried to throw himself to his death. & # 39;
The spokesperson added: “All three are still alive, but their injuries are significant.
& # 39; The suspect is under police surveillance in the hospital but has not yet been formally arrested.
& # 39; The researchers believe that this is not a typical case of domestic violence and may be related to mental health problems that the teenager suspects to suffer.
The stabbing took place in the busy tourist area around Las Terrazas and Avenida de Los Pueblos in the Torviscas area of Costa Adeje for shocked holiday makers.
There are several rocky gorges, including a particularly steep one near the bus station in Playa de las Americas a short walk away and near the local police headquarters.
The & # 39; barranco & # 39; has the shape of a huge inverted dome with massive rocks and has no barriers despite being in the center of the tourist area.
