Married At First Sight has been one of the top-rated shows of 2024.

But there’s one surprising demographic the popular dating show has touched: older people.

A member of a MAFS fan group on Facebook made a surprising revelation this week, claiming that the show is very popular in nursing homes.

‘Can I just say that I work in Aged Care and I have residents who rush out at dinnertime to finish their shower and bed routine so they don’t miss MAFS? It is not a joke!’ read the post.

“I work in the senior care community and have clients that see it too lol,” another Facebook user confirmed.

‘It’s good to see them excited about this. Good thing you guys are looking forward to some trashy TV. I love it,” wrote one group member.

“Haha this is so cute,” another user wrote, while someone else commented “when I worked at Aged Care it was Neighbors.”

Other members of the group enjoyed learning about the show’s older fan base in the comments. ‘It’s good to see them excited about this. Good thing you guys are looking forward to some trashy TV. I love it,” wrote one Facebook user.

“I’m not in senior care, but I also rush through dinner, dishes, and get into my pajamas to watch MAFS… it’s my secret addiction!” wrote another.

It comes as the show’s 2024 broadcast consistently dominated late-night commercial television ratings in Australia.

Every episode of season 11 achieved the number one spot in total viewers overnight, with the exception of episode 10 on February 12, where it placed second to the Super Bowl broadcast.

The reality dating show consistently had more than 1.2 million people watching, with a national reach of nearly 3 million.

The explosive reunion dinner, which saw new ‘villain’ Jono McCullough arrive with Ellie Dix, had more than 1.7 million MAFS fans glued to their screens.
