Do you know that too: You have received really good news and now you just have to pull out your credit card or wallet and throw money around? No? Then you probably don’t feel like many fans of Counter-Strike, where a noticeable trend can be noticed at the moment.
Because apparently the official unveiling of Counter Strike 2 (after a whole range of previous leaks) made sure that CS:GO skin sales skyrocket. At least that’s what the data shows CS:GO Case Tracker out what the colleagues from GameRant to draw attention.
CS:GO players are generous
For example, the average daily sales of so-called skin cases in CS:GO before the 22nd only hovered around 1,200,000. “Only” in quotes, because those are definitely impressive numbers.
Directly on the date of the CS2 announcement and the day after, the numbers make a decent outlier upwards, sometimes rising over 1,600,000 skin cases sold per day. In the whole of March, we come to around 39.5 million skins that wandered over the digital shop counter in CS:GO.
How much money fans invested in new CS:GO skins is difficult to say, since skin cases come in different price variants. A roughly estimated amount should add up to around 100 million euros.
And in case you’re wondering whether such an investment makes any sense just before the release of Counter-Strike 2 in the summer of 2023: Don’t worry, your inventory and thus all your skins will be moved to CS2 with CS:GO. You can find out more about this in the following articles:
By the way, Counter-Strike 2 is even playable now – but only for a lucky select few. Of course, we have already summarized for you whether and how you will get into the test phase of the shooter sequel. Also the main differences between CS:GO and CS2 that fans should be prepared for.
