A mother in Texas broke down her son’s bedroom door and found her two children tragically dead in a suspected murder-suicide.

An investigation involving the two brothers, ages 22 and 24, is underway in Houston after they were found dead early Monday morning.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call just before 2 a.m., where EMS arrived on scene and pronounced both brothers dead from gunshot wounds, according to an HCSO news release.

The identities of the two men have not yet been revealed.

The mother heard a “commotion” in one of her son’s bedrooms and kicked down the door before calling police, KHOU reported.

She and her two children lived together in an apartment complex in Houston and she was briefly hospitalized after a panic attack, according to the outlet.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said: ‘Sad deal. The shooting appears to be a murder-suicide involving two brothers.

The 22-year-old is believed to have shot his 24-year-old brother, who has autism, and then shot himself.

The shooter is said to have had a “history of mental health issues,” and according to KHOU 11, officers had responded to the scene before for disturbances and mental health incidents.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing and authorities have said the motive is still unclear.

Tributes and messages of condolence flooded social networks after the news.

One person wrote: ‘I have no words. “I can’t understand the pain this mother is going through.”

Another added: “How heartbreaking… prayers for the mother and the rest of the family.”

A third said: ‘Prayers are flowing for this Mother, she will need so much love and encouragement. Parents are not supposed to bury their children.
