A Texas gun store owner says more women are buying guns in response to the border crisis.
Gary Humphreys, owner of Humphreys’ Gun Shop in Del Rio, said he’s seen an increase in all types of customers.
“Since this border opened, we’re getting new people who never had guns and they’re buying them with all the crime and things that are going on,” he told Fox News. Digital.
She added that women generally buy guns for “self-protection.”
“There are a lot of women who have never owned a gun and they come to buy one,” she said.

Humphreys, a Trump supporter who has owned his store for nearly 50 years, said he has been noticing a steady increase in clientele since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office.
“People who don’t live on the border don’t realize what’s really happening,” he said.
He described an incident where his front door was smashed and called the situation “pretty scary.”
In the past three years, the border has seen a record eight million migrant crossings.
Several high-profile crimes involving immigrants, such as the murders of Laken Riley and Jocelyn Nungaray, have amplified anxiety about the influx of people into the United States.
However, studies have shown that immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than native-born U.S. citizens.
The issue has become a flashpoint ahead of the November election, with “border czar” Harris forced to defend her record.
The business owner said he has been noticing a steady increase in customers since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took office and blamed their immigration policies.
Humphreys has owned his gun shop in Del Rio since 1973 and says he has noticed an increase in customers from all demographics.
In an interview with CNN, he claimed to have reduced migration in some parts of the United States.
“The fundamental cause work that I did as vice president and that the president asked me to do actually resulted in a number of benefits, including historic investments by American companies in that region,” Harris said.
The number of immigrants from that region has actually decreased since we began that work.
The vice president criticized former President Donald Trump for refusing to support a bipartisan border bill earlier this year.
She has promised to sign it if it reaches her desk as president, but critics have pointed out that it does not provide any additional funding for the border wall, a Trump policy Harris has previously criticized.
The store owner, pictured with his wife, said women are buying guns to feel safer.
The Democratic candidate also said she believes there should be “consequences” for immigrants who cross the border illegally.
The comments mark a shift from his previous stance on the issue. He previously raised his hand during a Democratic primary debate when asked whether illegal border crossings should be decriminalized.
