A Texas town has lost its Guinness World Record bid for bringing together the largest group of people with the same first name after hundreds of Kyles flocked to the Lone Star State for the count.

The current record was set when 2,325 Ivans gathered in the Bosnian town of Kupreski Kosci in 2017.

Kyle City lost by breaking the world record on Sunday at the “Gathering of the Kyles”.

After a count and recount of all registrants, the city said it had 1,490 Kyles in attendance.

“We are so grateful to the hundreds of Kyles who attended the Kyle Fair A Tex-Travaganza to participate in this world record attempt,” a Kyle City spokesperson said.

“Kyles from across the country answered the call, with Kyles from 49 of 50 states, including Hawaii and Alaska, participating in the gathering of Kyles — the majority of whom came from all parts of Texas.”

The event had global representation, with participants from Ontario, Calgary, Vancouver, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, Canada.

“We thank the many Kyles who showed up at this event and were blown away by their enthusiasm and camaraderie in Kyle Town’s fourth and most successful attempt at this record,” the spokesperson said.

Kyle Town plans to try to break the record for the largest gathering of the same name next year at its second Kyle Fair A Tex-Travaganza.

Posting “The Call of the Kyles” on the city’s Facebook page, a spokesperson wrote earlier this month: “In order to have a shot at breaking this record, we need Kyles up close and personal. from afar participates.

“We need big Kyles, little Kyles, young Kyles and old Kyles.”

This is the fourth time Kyle Town has attempted to break the record.

However, strict rules determine who is eligible to be a Kyle in the record attempt.

“We cannot accept middle names or surnames. All participants must have the name ‘Kyle’ – spelled that way,’ the organizers wrote.

‘Various iterations of ‘Kyle’ such as Kyler, Kiel or Kylee are not accepted.

“Kyles of all ages can participate.”

The “big Kyles Gathering” took place at the end of the city’s annual Kyle Fair, which spans three days and includes live music, rides and a rib-cooking contest.

“All Kyles who attend the Gathering of the Kyles will receive a free t-shirt, a few other goodies, and will be serenaded by one of their own, Kyle Daniel,” a spokesperson for the event wrote.

“Admission to Kyle Fair is free as well as attendance at all live music performances.”
