A Texas man was arrested on Tuesday after homemade bombs were found in his home just months after threatening a family member, authorities said.

John Christopher Crawson, 47, first came under the radar of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office in mid-January after it was reported he voiced the threat, Lieutenant Jason Braeutigam said at a news conference: Patch.com reports.

Crawson was detained at his home on the 2500 block of Santa Barbara Loop, just outside Round Rock, around 8 a.m.

At Crawson’s house, authorities found “various” improvised explosives. Six homes in the vicinity had to be evacuated.

Agents from the Austin Police Department’s Bombing Unit and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives reported on the scene to assist with the removal of the explosives.

Braeutigam said it was currently unclear whether the bombs were made at home or bought elsewhere. And while the authorities did not comment on the disagreement in the family, they did state that Crawson was going through an ugly divorce.

“We’re very close,” Sonia Guardado said of the neighbor, Austin American-Statesman. “We’re all in pain now.”
