Houston Texans general manager Nick Caserio called the NFL “hypocritical” for banning Azeez Al-Shaair from having any contact with the team during his three-game suspension for a brutal hit on Trevor Lawrence.
After insisting that criticism of Al-Shaair’s conduct “could not be further from the truth,” Caserio ranted furiously about the league at a press conference Tuesday.
“If the league says it cares about the well-being of its players, and I would say at a time like this, Azeez is probably going through a lot, we can’t even provide support on a multitude of levels,” he fumed.
“So it’s a little hypocritical to say, ‘We want to support the players, but you know what? The organization cannot have contact with him for four weeks.”
‘Okay, so what do you want me to do, just go and float alone?’
