Tesla has announced a new membership model for all Supercharger network customers, opening up its discounted fast charging rates to more electric car drivers.

Starting April 13, all electric vehicle (EV) owners (Tesla or non-Tesla) can access lower rates with Supercharger Membership, aAnd the monthly cost of membership has been reduced from £10.99 to £8.99.

Tesla owners will automatically benefit from this discount, while non-Tesla electric vehicle drivers can choose to join the membership for the first time and take advantage of these lower rates.

Tesla has 1,400 Supecharger sites in the UK and Ireland, 42 of which are open to non-Tesla drivers.

There are 477 chargers available across the 42 sites, from Fort William to Cardiff to Kettering, where other EV brands can now charge cheaply.

Until this Tesla announcement, non-Tesla EV drivers would have to pay a higher kilowatt-hour price for charging than Tesla Supercharger members, but EVs with CCS charging would still be able to charge at these sites.

And in addition to cheaper charging rates of £2 per month, Tesla is now offering all EV drivers (Tesla or not) a newly introduced annual membership plan option.

Electric car drivers can pay a flat sum of £90 a month to save around £18 a year on the Supercharger membership, a 16 per cent discount compared to the monthly membership.

Last year, Tesla introduced its V4 Superchargers, which allow customers to use a contactless car payment system at the terminal and see live prices on digital screens built into the charger.

Drivers using V3 Superchargers will still need to use the Tesla app.

Tesla Superchargers can add up to 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes, helping people recharge very quickly on long-distance trips.

The app must also be downloaded to version 4.32 before customers can benefit from the new lower membership fee.

Tesla drivers’ access to the Supercharger network, the world’s largest fast-charging infrastructure, has long been seen as an envious benefit to electric vehicle owners, as the lowest fast and rapid charging rates They are an attraction of the electric vehicle brand, owned by Elon Musk.
