The world’s best-selling Tesla SUV has become even more practical: it is now available with seven seats.

The Model Y, which became the first electric vehicle to top the global sales chart with more than 1.3 million units sold in 2023, is now available as a seven-seater if the long-range all-wheel drive version is purchased.

The Long Range AWD Y starts from £51,990. However, the extra third row will cost an extra £2,500.

The third row is easily accessible thanks to access buttons located on the backrest of each outboard second-row seat. You maneuver the seats back and forth and fold them to allow passengers to enter and exit without obstacles.

The seven-seater option is only available in the long-range all-wheel drive variant and promises to provide families with additional versatility.

The third row with two forward-facing seats (which fold flat for maximum storage space) will be easily accessible thanks to the sliding rear row that also folds flat.

Press the access buttons located on the backrest of each outboard second-row seat and you can maneuver the seats to allow passengers to enter and exit without obstacles.

Telsa says third-row passengers also have comfortable headroom thanks to its location under the rear glass, and there are also two USB-C outlets for charging mobile devices.

Also useful for carrying more cargo, the seven-seat Model Y has 2,040 liters of space to play with.

Electric vehicles have no front engine or rear fuel tank, so in this Model Y there is room for 117 liters of storage under the front hood (frunk) and 363 liters behind the third row.

Tesla says that even with all seven passengers seated comfortably, you’ll be able to fit two carry-on suitcases in the trunk and two large bags in the trunk.

Fold down the third row and use the Model Y as a five-seater and you’ll get 753 liters, enough to accommodate strollers, scooters or folding beds.

The Y can also tow 1,600 kg: a small caravan or a double horse trailer.

The long-range all-wheel drive Model Y has a combined range of 373 WLTP miles (up to 351 if you get the standard 19-inch wheels) and can charge up to 250k

On the Tesla Supercharger network (the Model Y comes with full access like all Teslas) you can get up to 200 miles of charge in just 15 minutes.

The seven-seat Y model with long-range all-wheel drive will start from £54,490.

It follows the new Model Y cabin configuration, following the launch of the new rear-wheel drive Model Y earlier this month.

Replacing the old rear-drive Model Y with a long-range version, the new rear-drive Model Y can achieve 373 miles of range and will start at £46,990.
