A Boeing 737 Max operated by United Airlines skidded off the runway after landing in Houston early Friday in the latest near-miss involving the embattled plane.

The plane, which arrived from Memphis, is said to have suffered some type of train collapse as it exited the runway at George Bush Airport, although the 160 passengers and six crew members were not injured.

Shocking images showed the plane lying on its wings on the grass at the side of the runway, while passengers were rushed out via an emergency staircase at the door.

It is the latest in a series of disastrous failures involving Boeing planes in recent days, including a 737 engine that caught fire mid-flight on Monday and a wheel that fell off shortly after takeoff in San Francisco on Thursday.

The plane also suffered a near-catastrophe in January when the plane’s door exploded 16,000 feet above Portland, Oregon, forcing an emergency landing.

The FAA says it is launching a full investigation into the latest disaster, which is still ongoing at the time of this writing, as United says it will move the plane as soon as it can.

Despite the rocky end to the flight, one passenger claimed the landing was smooth, but he felt some bumps as the plane took off from the gate.

“It felt like a flat tire on a car,” the passenger said. Click2Houston.

In a statement, Houston airports said: “Around 8 a.m. today, a United Airlines flight landed at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). Upon runway departure, the aircraft left the sidewalk. and entered the grass on runway 9-27.’

‘Fortunately no one on board was injured. The Houston Fire Department and Houston Airport Operations responded immediately and safely evacuated all passengers.

‘Per federal regulation, the FAA has been notified. United Airlines is working to remove the plane, which does not affect flight operations. Flights in and out of LAH continue without interruption.’
