Terror attack leaves ‘dead and wounded’ as gunfire erupts after ‘suicide bombing’ at Turkish defence company

Smoke rises as security forces, firefighters and paramedics are dispatched to the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) facility after explosions and gunshots were reported.

According to authorities, a terrorist attack has left several dead and injured at the headquarters of a defense company in Türkiye.

The attack was carried out against the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) near Ankara and explosions and gunshots were reportedly heard outside the building.

Images from the scene show a large plume of smoke rising and substantial damage to structures outside the building.

Unconfirmed reports in local media suggest that a suicide bomber attacked the front door before several attackers clashed with security services.

Special forces troops, as well as firefighters and medical teams, attended the scene.

Staff at the manufacturing company were evacuated and told to seek shelter.

Mansur Yavas, mayor of Ankara, said in a statement: “I am deeply saddened by the conflict and the terrorist attack that occurred at the TAI facility in Ankara.

‘I wish God’s mercy for our martyrs and a speedy recovery for our wounded. We condemn terrorism.’

According to Turkish media, TAI has recently developed attack helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and aircraft.
