This is the terrifying moment a skydiver fell from the top of a hot air balloon before being able to land safely on a farm in southeast Brazil.
Colombia native Jhovanny Durán can be seen standing on the balloon taking five steps and trying to slide when he suddenly fell through the canvas.
The 31-year-old father of one fell about 65 feet into the balloon, landing in the basket and making contact with the torch before being ejected.
However, he was able to maintain his composure and opened the parachute before landing on a farm, where a resident helped him.
Durán was rushed to an area hospital, where he underwent surgery for a fracture in his left leg. He also received burns on his legs, chin, cheeks and nose.

Jhovanny Durán said that he had seen other people skydiving from a hot air balloon through videos on the Internet and that he and the six other people who accompanied him had no experience in doing that type of jump.
The incident took place on June 1 in the São Paulo city of Boituva and Durán has been at home recovering since then.
In an interview with the Brazilian news program Fantastic that aired Sunday, Durán said that none of the six other divers who joined him on the mission had ever jumped from a hot air balloon, but that he had seen other people do it in Internet.
“There was no other athlete, no other experienced person, to give us the safety information we had for climbing or what we had to do to walk on top of the balloon, jump, get out,” he said.
The owner of the balloon, Durán said, provided the group with some instructions on how to proceed with the ‘risky jump’.
While on top of the balloon, he discovered that the balloon was not stable enough and followed the owner’s instructions to step on only the thickest lines of the tarp.

‘He (the owner) said, when you step on it you will feel that it has more pressure. If he has pressure, it is the right one,’ Durán stated. ‘When I took one, two, three steps and started to slide, I felt like I was sinking.’
Durán has lived in Brazil for ten years and celebrated his birthday over the weekend.
Jair Grillo, who was piloting the balloon, told the news outlet that the seven paratroopers received his instructions, which he said Durán did not follow.
‘Unfortunately, the athlete in question ended up performing this jump that ended up not supporting his weight. OK? But yes, it’s a joke for the athlete before he leaves,’ he stated.
‘It is explained more than once. For them to come out it is on top of the support tape,’ she added.
“And in the video itself you can see that in the end it did not run on top of the tape, but rather ran through the middle of the fabric and was thrown away.”
