Dramatic surveillance camera footage captured the moment a train crashed into a school bus, killing two children, in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná on Thursday morning.
The bus was carrying 25 students and three teachers from the Association of Parents and Friends of the Disabled when the train collided with it at an intersection in the southern city of Jandaia so Sul.
Five students and a teacher were also injured, according to the Jandaia do Sul Fire Department.
Two girls, ages 11 and 15, were pronounced dead at the scene.

A school bus carrying 25 children and three teachers was involved in an accident with a train in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná on Thursday morning. Authorities confirmed that two children were killed and that five others and a teacher were also injured.
The 15-year-old’s father was on his way to work when he noticed the accident.
“I ran over there and then I saw it was my daughter’s bus,” she said.
The footage showed a car on the opposite side of the track coming to a complete stop at the intersection as the train approached the area. The bus could then be seen passing over the track as the train crashed into it.
The impact of the crash ejected at least four people from the bus and left them lying near the side of the tracks.
At least one of the victims could be seen standing up and taking a few steps before falling to the ground and writhing in pain.
We didn’t have much to do. Another six victims, including a teacher, were taken in serious condition to hospitals in the region,’ the head of the fire department, Wallacy de Souza, told RPC television.

One of the injured victims lies on the ground moments after the train collided with the school bus they were riding.
The driver was interviewed by the Civil Police of Jandaia so Sul and said that he did not know that the train was approaching the intersection.
“He confirmed that he did not see the train approaching and did not even hear a sound, even after a car stopped on the other side of the street,” police chief Carlos Paravidino told the G1 news outlet.
The Civil Police of Jandaia so Sul investigates the accident. The Criminalistics Institute was also at the scene analyzing the accident and investigating whether the train or bus was traveling at excessive speed.
The interim governor of Paraná, Darcia Piana, declared three days of mourning.
“The school community of Paraná is in mourning for this serious accident in Jandaia do Sul,” Piana said in a statement. “May God comfort the families of the girls and may the others recover soon from this accident. The Government of Paraná will do everything in its power to help these people.’
