Horrible moment bulldog attacks a toddler in a lift in Brazil while the babysitter of the 18 month old boy tries to save him
- Shocking CCTV images show the growling dog at the little boy
- The dog owner and his sitter are desperately struggling to bring the boy to safety
- He got bruises and bite marks and would have been ‘traumatized’ by the attack
This is the horrible moment when a growling bulldog attacked an 18-month-old toddler in an elevator in Brazil.
CCTV images show the babysitter of the little boy desperately trying to pull the frightened child away while the dog runs towards him and sinks his teeth into it.
The owner of the animal lifts the boy with one arm in the air as he struggles to control his dog, who was not on a lead.
The babysitter eventually escapes with the toddler, who suffered bruises and a bite in his leg during the incident in an apartment building in the port city of Belem last Thursday.

The little boy is said to have been ‘traumatized’ by the attack and his family has filed an official complaint with the police.
The owner is confronted with possible charges for the attack.
Bulldogs are one of the 17 breeds that are considered a potential danger to the public in Brazil and owners are legally obliged to keep them muzzled and in charge in public places.
The boy and his babysitter were on their way down the elevator to a playground on the grounds of the apartment building when the attack took place.
Images show that they are in the elevator when it stops at a floor and opens the door.
The babysitter is standing between the doors to keep them open for a tenant to come in while holding the child’s hand.
Suddenly the pedigree animal, who is not on the line, runs into the elevator and rushes straight for the boy and bends him forwards, pushing him into a corner before he will bite him.
In the disturbing images, the owner who enters right behind the aggressive animal grabs the child of the babysitter who lifts him out of the dog’s reach while the doors close.

The out of control animal gets crazy in the tight space as the elevator descends and jumps on the owner and the nanny to get to the petrified child.
The pair fights to contain the raging creature that holds it by the ears, head and neck. But it seems that even between them they are not strong enough to calm the agitated animal.
The mirror of the elevator shows the toddler screaming and crying in fear.
At a shocking point, the muscular dog uses all his strength to knock the owner back against the wall in his determination to launch himself at the boy.
Cameras show the big brute that practically overcomes the bearded man, who still holds the child up while he tries to ward it off.

The tactic of the animal brings the little boy within reach and the disturbing incident looks like it gets worse when the elevator doors open.
The dog’s owner had the option to press the button to ensure that it was opened on the next floor. The babysitter takes her load from the man’s arms while the bulldog seems to be trying to sink his teeth back into the child’s legs.
The ferocious beast even chases the boy as he escapes. But the owner bends over and blocks the exit until the elevator is on its way.
A statement issued by Daniel Rodrigues Cruz, the family’s lawyer, said the boy is recovering, but he has been traumatized by the incident.
He said: ‘The baby’s family is currently shocked and they are waiting for psychological assessments and (more details about) the extent of the injuries.
“They want to be left alone to come to terms with what happened.”
The babysitter finally escapes with the boy while the owner squats and stops his dog
