Prince William “won’t be intimidated” by fathering Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis while the Princess of Wales recovers from her surgery, a source has claimed.

The Prince of Wales, 41, is said to be a “hands-on” father and is regularly seen dropping off and picking up his children at Lambrook School in Berkshire.

Last week, the Royal Family announced that the Princess of Wales, 41, had undergone planned abdominal surgery and had been advised to recover for up to three months.

speaking to HELLO!, a source claimed that news of Kate’s surgery had “shocked” the “tight-knit” parenting community.

They said: “He is a regular at the school gate and at events and is very hands-on as a father, so being in charge while Kate is away won’t faze him.”

“They often do things as a complete family unit and he is very confident in looking after the children.”

On top of this, the source said Lambrook’s parents will “join (William) in offering him whatever help they can” in the coming weeks.

Following the announcement, it was confirmed that Prince William had postponed a number of engagements and will not undertake official duties while his wife is in hospital.

He will also not be performing any official duties during the immediate period following Kate’s return home. Royal aides will provide a revised timetable for William in due course.

Neither William nor Kate will travel internationally in the coming months.

William is understood to want to continue with school in an effort to create as much normality as possible for Prince George, ten, Princess Charlotte, eight, and Prince Louis, five, while their mother is in hospital .

She will also have the help of her nanny, Maria, and Kate’s family, particularly her parents, Michael and Carole Middleton, who are hands-on grandparents used to having the children at sleepovers or staying with them.

Kate’s parents and siblings, Pippa Matthews and James Middleton, are already rallying around and helping to support her recovery at their Windsor home, which is close to their own homes.

The nature of Kate’s condition has not been revealed, although Kensington Palace confirmed it was not related to cancer.

Earlier this week, royal expert Emily Nash said Kate will no doubt be “in regular contact” with her children during her stay in hospital.

She said HELLO!: “Kate loves FaceTiming the kids when she works abroad, so I’m sure they’ll be in regular contact while she’s in the hospital.”

There are a number of events that are usually on Kate’s calendar this time of year and, in light of recent news, she will apparently not be present in the coming weeks.

In February 2023, the royal, who is patron of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and Rugby Football League (RFL), appeared in high spirits while attending a Six Nations rugby match with her husband, Prince William.

And next month, France and Ireland will open this year’s Six Nations Championship on February 2, with a match at the Vélodrome Orange in Marseille.

That weekend will also see England versus Italy matches in Rome and Wales versus Scotland in Cardiff, which the Prince and Princess of Wales are not expected to attend.
