Terri Irwin’s incredible gesture is revealed to a group of hardcore Matildas fans, after they vowed to dress up as the late wildlife warrior Steve at the World Cup.
Terri Irwin and the Australia Zoo have given their support to a group of hardcore Matilda fans called The Croissants.
Generous Terri, 59, donated 100 khaki T-shirts to the group, which has 3,000 followers on its Instagram page, so they could dress as her late husband, wildlife warrior Steve, for the opening match of the World Cup on Thursday.
The group proudly supported The Matildas this week when they battled Ireland in the FIFA World Cup and won the match 1-0.
‘The Croissants are delighted to announce that the great TERRI IRWIN, aka Australia Zoo, has come on board as a sponsor, providing 100 khaki t-shirts to help fulfill our dream of a ‘sea of Steve’s’ opening match, a post was read earlier this week.
He continued: “Keep your eyes peeled on Thursday night.”

The group has dressed up as Steve Irwin before, even donning a messy blonde wig and carrying inflatable crocodiles to complete the look.
“We all have experience in the sport and I guess growing up, we didn’t have the opportunities that we have today, and certainly not when a lot of Matildas were growing up,” said one member of the group. The Sydney Morning Herald.

“So for us, it’s like being able to be ambassadors for women’s football.”
Terri and her family have proudly carried on the legacy of Steve ‘Crocodile Hunter’ Irwin since he was tragically killed by a stingray 17 years ago.
In an earlier birthday tribute to the late Steve, Terri said that although she still grieves for her husband of 14 years, she was determined to celebrate the things he loved most: his children and the Australia Zoo.

Irwin, known as The Crocodile Hunter, died on September 4, 2006, at the age of 44, after a ray pierced his chest while filming a wildlife documentary called Ocean’s Deadliest in Queensland.
