Two bodies have been found in the remains of a unit that was destroyed by a fire.

At around 4.10am on Thursday, emergency services were called to a block of units on Railway Street in Teralba, near Newcastle, New South Wales, following reports of a fire.

Firefighters worked throughout the morning to extinguish the fire, but the unit suffered significant damage.

Images uploaded to Instagram capture the intensity of the flames when the unit is completely engulfed.

Officers, including the Arson Unit, attended the scene and a body was found during searches of the unit.
