For the second time, the International Longshore and Warehouse Workers Union (ILWU) has voted no on a tentative agreement with the BC Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA).
The two parties have been negotiating a new collective agreement since March, but went on strike from July 1-13 after getting deadlocked.
The labor action froze billions of dollars in assets at BC ports, including Canada’s largest in Vancouver.
“Today we are calling on our direct employers to come to the table and negotiate something that works for our members and the industry,” read a statement posted on the ILWU Facebook page late Friday.
Last week, the union recommended members accept the tentative agreement.
