French tennis player Arthur Cazaux has provided an update on his health after collapsing mid-match at the Miami Open on Monday in terrifying scenes.

The 21-year-old was tied against fellow Frenchman Harold Mayot when Cazaux fell to the ground as he prepared to return his serve with no one around him.

He lay on the ground for several seconds before the referee finally got off his chair and a doctor rushed to help him.

Footage later showed Cazaux being taken off the pitch in a wheelchair after receiving treatment.

But he has now let his social media followers know he has been released from hospital after a “long series of tests”.

Arthur Cazaux collapsed on court midway through his match at the Miami Open on Monday

The 21-year-old fell to the ground with no one around him during the deciding third set.

He lay on the ground for several seconds before the referee and doctor rushed to him.

He posted on Instagram in French: “I have just left the Miami hospital after spending the night there receiving treatment and a long series of tests.

“Today my physical condition is better, my blood pressure and my heart have remained stable.”

Cazaux had leveled the match by winning the second set 7-5 after Mayot won the first 6-4 in Florida.

Temperatures in Miami hovered around 88 degrees Fahrenheit Monday with about 70 percent humidity.

After being criticized on social media for his lack of reaction to Cazaux’s fall, Mayot wrote: “Stop starting a false controversy for nothing.

“He hadn’t been feeling well for several games and he was starting to have cramps.

Cazaux revealed on Instagram that he was released from hospital after a “long series of tests”

“I didn’t see him fall and I thought he was lying down because he had a cramp. When I realized it was serious I immediately followed him and I was very worried.

“I did my best to help. There is only great friendship and complicity between us and that has always been the case.

“You need to stop sending your hate all the time. I wish him a good recovery and the best.

Cazaux, currently ranked 74th in the ATP rankings, reached the fourth round of the Australian Open earlier this year.

Mayot then beat Belgian David Goffin 7-6, 6-2 on Tuesday for a place in the main draw.
