Telstra customers are reporting a problem in the network which is preventing prepaid mobile phone customers from recharging their accounts.
The country’s largest telecommunications company acknowledged the “outage” on Thursday morning after customers complained that they could not add funds to their prepaid service.
Telstra’s main Twitter account is keeping customers informed of the situation.
“We are aware of an issue affecting the ability of our customers to top up and activate prepaid mobile services,” they wrote to a customer.
Telstra customers are reporting a problem in the network which is preventing prepaid mobile phone customers from recharging their accounts.
“We are studying this matter as a priority and hope that it will be operational again as soon as possible.”
The problem also affects prepaid services Boost Mobile and JB Hi-Fi, both of which use the Telstra network.
Those attempting to top up online receive a message stating, “We are temporarily unable to top up your prepaid service due to scheduled maintenance. Sorry for the inconvenience. Please try to recharge in a few hours.
Outage reporting website DownDetector shows spikes in Telstra outage reports, with more than 40 since around 6:30 a.m. AEST.
