What is a hemangioma?

A hemangioma is a birthmark that grows during the first year of life and fades with time.

It can appear on the face, scalp, chest or back.

Most hemangiomas disappear on their own.

In rare cases, a hemangioma can interfere with vision or cause other symptoms and can be treated with medications or laser surgery.

"Dear society, the messages are important," Sam began in the message.

& # 39; Every day you are sending messages to girls and boys. These messages are not on a billboard, in a newspaper, on television, they are not written, they are not exactly verbalized, but are they strong?

"I'm not sure you realize that even the little messages you send have a big impact, I do my best to send positive messages to my little girl, Imogen.

"I'm trying to expose her to so many activities, sports and learning opportunities.

"I'm trying to send the message about how strong, brave, intelligent, determined, resilient and beautiful she is.

"The messages sent now help determine who she is, how she behaves and, most importantly, how she sees herself."

In recent months, Sam explained how people had said things like: "Ew, what is it?", "Does it hurt?", "Itchy?" and & # 39; That mark on his head seems painful & # 39; – that works to undermine the task.

"You do not even know her, but you feel perfectly comfortable pointing to her hemangioma and making a comment," Sam continued.

While Imogen's age means that she has not necessarily noticed her own birthmark and what it means to society as a whole, it will not be long until she does.

"I know it does not hurt you, I know you're interested, or in some cases, trying to be useful, but you do not realize that you're actually sending a damaging message.

"You're telling him that what's outside is important, judging by what you only see, you're telling him that despite his undeniable strength, his endurance, his determination, his big blue eyes, his mouth full of teeth, his cheeky smile and happy face, all that people will see is their hemangioma.

"I feel a little stupid to mention this because a hemangioma is NOT A BIG THING! It's like a freckle or place of beauty or I do not know, like a cheekbone, but you're doing it as if it's something else.

"So I'm asking you society, do not be superficial. Keep in mind that by asking these questions or making these statements, you are sending a negative message. "

While Imogen's age means you have not necessarily noticed your own birthmark and what it means to society in general, it will not be long until you do.

And that's why Sam was inclined to pose the problem.

"As I said to the third stranger who made a comment about it today at the supermarket … actually we like it a lot, it looks good and it's his special place," Sam finished.

"And yes, when people say what that thing is on their face, my head says instantly that I was about to ask you what's that between your shoulders … but I'm too polite."

& # 39; I hate that you have to write this! My niece had one (we call it a strawberry kiss on the lip) she is now 11 years old and has completely disappeared, "wrote one person.

"We are very fortunate to have these beautiful children just want the rest of society to grow and take care of their own affairs."

"I do not know Immi or yourself, but what I see is a beautiful family, your daughter is happy, healthy and loved," added another.
