The chilling story began to unravel on September 26, 2008, when Susan failed to show up for work at a retail store.

The murder was described as “extremely brutal, extremely violent” by Denton County Prosecutor Jamie Beck.

It turned out that the trio, along with Jennifer’s younger brother David, had agreed to kill their parents, steal their cars and credit cards, and flee to Canada.

Merrilee had tried to attack first and on September 23 her mother woke up to find her daughter standing in front of her with a large butcher knife.

Her mother was able to call the police and the young woman was taken to a juvenile detention center.

The next day, Paul’s father reported that his son had run away and informed the police that he had also obtained his .22 caliber pistol.

It wasn’t long before he, along with Jennifer and David, beat and killed Susan together, having made multiple plans to kill her, one of which was to “electrocute her in the shower,” according to Beck.

The South Dakota officer found them three days later loitering outside a closed gas station at 3:30 in the morning.
