A teenager who raped and killed his 15-year-old friend in Texas was sentenced to life in prison.

The jury took less than an hour Wednesday to condemn Jesus Campos Jr., 18, from South Houston, Texas, for the killing of Karen Perez, who made the automatic life sentence with conditional release in 40 years possible.

Campos Jr. denied initially to know what happened to his girlfriend after she disappeared on May 27, 2016, but a tip eventually led to the discovery of the body.
