A teenager and two stolen horses have been killed in a crash on a busy Dallas highway.
Three teenagers rode three stolen horses on the Julius Schepps Expressway near the Great Trinity Forest on the southeastern outskirts of Dallas around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, the the Dallas Police Department said in a news release.
One of the teens, aged 14, was killed when a car struck the riding group. Two other teenagers, one 16 and the other 17, were taken to a local hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.
Three horses were on the scene. One died in the accident and the second was euthanized at the scene. The third horse was expected to survive his injuries.
“Preliminary investigation has determined that the three riders appear to be minors and the horses were stolen,” the report says.
The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident is not expected to face charges, but the investigation is still ongoing. According to NBC News, the The driver remained at the scene until the police arrived.
