A teenager who returned home to find his mother stabbed to death has told how he desperately tried, in vain, to fight off his attacker.

Wioleta Murawski was fatally stabbed by her husband Ryszard Murawski, 44, in the backyard of their Long Island home.

He pleaded guilty Tuesday to the January murder and now faces 22 years in prison.

The couple’s 15-year-old son told police he came home from a friend’s house and heard his mother “screaming for help.”

Upon entering the property, he saw his father sink the serrated weapon into his mother.

He charged at him and jumped on his back, allowing his mother to break free.

She managed to stumble across the street before collapsing with her son at her side. She was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital, where she later died.

Meanwhile, Murawski got into a black GMC pickup truck and fled the scene.

Police attempted to stop him, but he led them on a wild chase for more than seven miles before losing control of his vehicle and crashing into the side of a building.

They added that the brutal attack was captured by the surveillance system of the couple’s home.

“This is a tragic case of domestic violence that ended with the senseless death of Wioleta Murawski and horrific trauma for her son. This defendant will now have to pay for his actions in prison,” said District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney.

‘Domestic violence is never the solution. I urge anyone in an abusive relationship to seek help through our partner agencies, linked below. In case of emergency, always call 911.’

Loved ones paid tribute to the “wonderful” mother of two, praising her as someone “who touched the lives of so many”.

‘Wioleta dedicated her life to raising her children and giving them a brighter future,’ reads a GoFundMe.

“She was an outgoing person who gave her best. She was an incredible friend who always helped without expecting anything in return.”

The goal of the campaign was to raise enough money for a memorial and to return his remains to Poland, as well as to provide counselling for his children.

Murawski pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, a Class A felony, before the Honorable Karen M. Wilutis.

He is scheduled to appear in court again for sentencing on October 17.
