A teenage prankster was shot and seriously injured after he and his friends played “ding-dong-ditch” at a Maine gunman’s home.
Vincent Martin, 30, allegedly opened fire on the group of teens after they attacked his home around 1 a.m. Saturday morning, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office said.
The group knocked on the door of the Waterford Road home, but before they could run out, Martin allegedly opened the door and fired a burst of gunfire.
One of the teens was shot in the calf, critically injuring him, the Sheriff’s Office said.
After the group of teenagers attacked his home around 1 a.m., Vincent Martin, 30, allegedly opened fire on them.
“The resident of 91 Waterford Rd, later identified as Vincent Martin, 30, of Harrison, pulled out a handgun and shot the teens numerous times,” the statement said.
He went on to say that one of the bullets hit the “victim in the right calf, causing serious but non-life-threatening injuries.”
Hearing the sound of multiple gunshots and screams, local police responded to the scene.
There they discovered a trail of blood on the road.
The injured teenager, whose gender and age have not been released by investigators, was admitted to Bridgton Hospital, where he is now listed in “stable condition,” according to authorities.
Officers soon located Martin at his home and arrested him.
The pranksters knocked on the door of the Waterford Road home, but before they could run off, Martin allegedly opened his door and unleashed a burst of gunfire.
The 30-year-old man was taken to the Cumberland County Jail, where he was charged with two felonies: aggravated assault and aggravated reckless endangerment.
A homeowner in Maine was also charged with two misdemeanors for discharging a firearm.
Martin is now being held in the county jail on $10,000 cash bail.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
