A teenage girl has been placed in a coma by doctors after suffering a serious head injury from a tackle during a NSW Under-15 rugby match.
The 14-year-old girl is said to have come to the sidelines after the tackle in Saturday’s game, but then collapsed and suffered a seizure.
Paramedics arrived at the footy field in Erina on the Central Coast around 2:00 p.m. and treated the girl on the field, but quickly decided to call in the Careflight helicopter.

The helicopter arrived 20 minutes later with a specialist doctor on board.
Doctors intubated the girl and placed her in an artificial coma to stabilize her.
She was flown to Westmead Children’s Hospital in serious but stable condition.
She was then flown to hospital by the Careflight helicopter (pictured)
