Stevens’ friend Kori Alvarez Resto has launched a GoFundMe raise money for her orphaned son and advocate for a new domestic violence law that would require stricter monitoring of offenders.
Describing Stevens’ plight, Resto wrote: “After valiantly trying to escape an abusive relationship, she was murdered by her abuser, someone who was able to evade a court order and did not have her ankle monitored, despite prior threats.
“Tragically, her 16-year-old son now has to live life without his mother.”
“Our goal is to raise awareness and push for legislative changes that require stricter monitoring of domestic violence offenders, ensuring that no one else has to go through the horror that my best friend suffered,” Resto added.
‘No one should be able to breach a court order and hurt someone again. “We will work with legal experts, advocacy groups and legislators to make this law a reality.”
“Kristin was a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend who deserved a future full of peace, joy and love,” he added.
‘She truly believed she was here to shed light and love on everyone and she did so effortlessly.
“She was present at every moment and her death has left a great void in the lives of everyone who knew her.”
