Teen, 16, dies after getting trapped under a tram despite frantic efforts to resuscitate her
A teenage girl has died after becoming trapped under a LRV in Sydney’s CBD.
Emergency services were called to George Street, Haymarket around midnight after reports of a 16-year-old pedestrian passed under the tram who was seriously injured.
Police Rescue and Fire & Rescue NSW officers manage to free the girl who was treated at the scene by paramedics but was unable to revive.
The tram driver – a 52-year-old man – was taken to hospital for a mandatory check-up.
Police have cordoned off a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances of the accident.
A report will be prepared for the coroner’s information.
