Tech experts have found hidden gems in Apple's new iOS 18, which was released shortly after the iPhone 16 this month.

While Apple unveiled the first glimpse of its iOS 18 in June, the tech giant kept some features under wraps until the official launch on Monday.

Now tech giants have uncovered these hidden gems and hailed them as game-changers for the iPhone.

Users will never have to hit “Forgot Password?” again thanks to a new app that lets them access their login credentials.

Other cool features include a QR code for sharing Wi-Fi passwords and the ability to transcribe voice notes.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has hailed iOS 18 as “the biggest update ever,” allowing users to customize and personalize their iPhone, relive moments in Photos more easily, and new ways to send messages and make phone calls.

While the new features may be interesting, tech experts have dug deep into the operating system to find features that are useful in our daily lives.

Password Enforcement

Apple has added a new app to iOS 18 for those who know the pain of constantly resetting a password because they forgot it.

The Passwords app will not save login credentials for all your accounts.

All information stored there will be protected with end-to-end encryption, and you can lock it with Face ID or Touch.

The app is built on top of Keychain, Apple’s password management system on macOS.

“This makes it even easier for users to access their passwords and view all of their credentials, such as passwords, passcodes, and verification codes, all in one place,” Apple shared in a statement.

The app can also sync with other devices, such as an iPad or Mac, alerting users to any data leaks or compromised passwords.

Currency converter

The function not only converts currencies, but also lengths, times, speeds and weights, making it easier for those traveling to a foreign country.

Users go to the Calculator app, tap the icon that looks like a physical calculator, and activate Convert.

The operating system also includes a travel trick. The Calculator app will now convert currency, time, speed and measurements.

There are two arrows, one up and one down, that allow you to scroll through the different units and currencies.

Then enter a value in any of the fields to see conversions as you type.

Share Wi-Fi passwords with QR codes

QR codes became popular during the pandemic, allowing the world to access information without physical contact.

Now Apple uses the tool to easily share passwords with multiple people at once, eliminating the need to read every letter, number and symbol out loud.

And the QR code works with Android smartphones.

To access the new tool, users open the new Passwords app and tap the Wi-Fi card.

Then select the network you are sharing and tap Show Network QR Code.

Transcribe voice notes

Being able to record your thoughts or a quick voice note is a huge plus – users simply open the Voice Memo app, hit record, and let their words flow.

But now users can transcribe those messages, allowing them to see their words and also search for key phrases.

It is possible to view a transcript while recording in the Voice Memos app.

After pressing the bright red record button, swipe up from the top of the waveform and then tap the Selected Transcript button to view the live transcript.

Users can record voice notes, including phone calls, and transcribe the conversation.

The waveform disappears temporarily and the transcript appears, with the current word highlighted.

To return to the waveform view, tap the Selected Transcript button.

The new feature allows users to view the transcribed text once the recording is complete by tapping on the voice memo they want to view.

Tap the More actions button icon and then do one of the following:

Copy part of the transcript: Choose View transcript, select the text you want to copy, then tap Copy.

Copy the full transcript: Select Copy Transcript.

You can open another document (an email message or a text file, for example) and paste the text into it.

To search for text, users swipe down from the top of the recording list to reveal the search field. In the search field, enter the text you want to find.
