She told BBC Sport that her thoughts immediately turned to how she would juggle being a new mother and the sporting tournament, saying: “When I found out I was pregnant instantly fingers started calculating how long I had until the Olympics.”
The Olympian said there has been “a lot of talk” before competing about making sure there are private areas to breastfeed her newborn.
The French Olympic Committee said in January that facilities would be provided to mothers competing in the Games and traveling with their children.
Amber, who specializes in skeet, said the couple were looking forward to starting a family and “didn’t want to put it off any longer”.
She said: “I feel like I was saying to myself, ‘Oh, I’m a human being before I’m an athlete,’ but actually, when I looked at the actions I was taking and what I was doing, and what my agenda was, “I definitely wasn’t prioritizing myself or my dreams or the things I wanted to do outside of my sport.”
