- Teacher records fight with students
- Punches and tables were thrown in altercation
A fight has broken out between a teacher and his students, prompting an investigation by the police and the Department of Education.
Officers were called to Maitland Grossmann Secondary School, north-west of Newcastle, around 2pm on Tuesday with the entire incident captured on video.
Several students recorded footage of the disturbing fight, showing tensions rising after crumpled balls of paper were thrown around the classroom.
The teacher can be seen throwing the paper balls at a student from a close distance before saying “come on buddy” and grabbing him by the neck.
He then proceeds to throw the student onto his desk, getting an immediate reaction from other students who stand up and try to intervene.
A boy pushes the teacher away from him, yelling ‘do you want to play it again?’
The teacher can then be heard telling his students to put their phones away before they start yelling at him.
The situation becomes even more heated when a desk is thrown at the teacher as the school bell rings and several startled students run for the door.
The students involved in the conflict continue to yell at the teacher as they leave.
‘Fuck off,’ the teacher can be heard saying.
“Fuck you, you’re touching the kids,” replies a student.
The student who was grabbed earlier can be seen punching the teacher’s hand, further escalating tensions.
The teacher then pushes the teen through an aisle of chairs toward a blackboard at the front of the class.
The footage appears to show the teacher coiling his arm back and hitting the student while he is on the ground.
‘Are you fucking stupid?’ a stupid one screams.
Standing in the doorway, the professor says “who wants to try it?”.
