Taylor Swift’s ode to Travis Kelce on new album! Fans go wild over lyrics about ‘touchdowns’ and ‘Chiefs chanting’ on track The Alchemy from The Tortured Poets Department: ‘Trying to be the greatest in the league’

Taylor Swift released her new album and the penultimate song appears to contain multiple references to football and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce.

‘The Alchemy’, the 15th song from ‘The Tortured Poets Department’ has gone viral in the minutes following the album’s midnight release.

The bridge of the song is where the references to Kelce are most evident.

‘The bosses sing because they said/there was no chance/trying to be the best in the league/Where’s the trophy?/He just comes running to me’

Then the chorus begins: ‘Land / call the fans and remove them from the team / get rid of the clowns, get the crown, baby, I’m the one to beat / ’cause the sign in your heart says it’s still reserved for me / Honestly Who are we to fight against alchemy?

Other parts of the song refer to “warm guys.”[ing] the banks’.

It’s a slow song that’s clearly about the man in her life, who she’s been publicly dating since September 2023, when she went to her first Kansas City Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears.

While Swift wrote her first song about her boyfriend, it’s not the first time she’s sung about him.

During his Eras Tour stop in Argentina last fall, with Travis present, he changed the lyrics of his song ‘Karma’ by saying that ‘Karma is the guy from the Chiefs, and he’s coming straight home to me.’
