Taylor Swift’s Australian fans were left devastated on Friday as many embarked on a fruitless attempt to buy tickets for her Era tour Down Under.
Twitter was swiftly flooded with messages from ‘defeated and exhausted’ fans who had fought – and failed – to buy tickets to the coveted gig, while also raging over the fact that some hopefuls bought tickets to more than one concert.
General admission tickets for the Sydney and Melbourne dates of Taylor Swift’s Australian The Eras tour sold out in just hours, with only VIP and Hotel + Ticket Packages remain across all shows in the country.
Tickets for the Sydney shows went on sale at 10am, while Melbournians jumped online to score a seat at 2pm.
Frontier touring broke the bad news to her Sydney-based fans on Twitter at around midday on Friday, writing: ‘A-G Reserve now allocation exhausted. VIP and Hotel + Ticket Packages remain across all Sydney shows!’

The Speak Now songstress was forced to add the extra dates after millions of eager fans missed out on tickets during pre-sale
Following the news, fans swarmed the site, writing: ‘Taylor should have put her shows in every state of Australia and NZ so we all have a better chance on getting tickets… it’s just not fair…
‘A whole bloody day from 10am to 7:30pm and tickets all exhausted! for nothing! Feel so defeated! I truly believe only people from Australia/New Zealand/Islands should of purchased the tickets…
‘I could not get Taylor swift tickets please come to Australia and fill the void… Taylor Swift has literally broken Australia. Nobody doing any work cos everyone trying to get tickets, Tickets instantly 2-5x, flights and hotels instantly 4x…

Taylor announced a third Melbourne show at the MCG on February 18 next year and a fourth Sydney concert at Accor Stadium on February 26 as part of The Eras Tour.
The star will become the first artist since Madonna to perform three consecutive concerts at the Melbourne Cricket Ground when she takes the stage in February next year, and the first ever to play a fourth straight show at Sydney’s Accor Stadium.
The new gigs are in addition to the existing Melbourne concerts on February 16 and 17 and Sydney shows on February 23, 24, 25.

Prior to their disappointing blow, frantic fans took to social media to tweet Ticketek and beg for seats to one of the shows.
Fans penned: ‘This is becoming an obsession. I feel like a stalker!… I’m going to start playing each of Taylor Swifts albums and see how long it takes,’ wrote another…
‘Guys I’m at work serving customer please make sure I get tickets straight away please I’m begging you… How much are bookings/service fees per ticket? Need to make sure enough in account?’
Other fans camped outside the Ticketek offices in a bid to beat the online queues.
‘Still 3 hours until the box office opens, but the vibes are immaculate,’ Swift superfan Bec Sammut said in a viral TikTok video as she waited outside in the dead of winter.
‘Camping overnight at the Ticketek office for Taylor Swift tickets because that’s legitimately easier than getting them online,’ she wrote.
In yet another bizarre turn of events, Taylor fans in the UK were rushing to dating apps in a desperate attempt to meet Liverpool season ticket holders who have priority to the popstar’s concerts at Anfield stadium.
‘Swifties’ – the nickname for Taylor’s millions of supporters – are worried they won’t be able to get tickets after the singer changed her sales system so bots can’t resell.
Young women across Britain are now changing the location setting on their dating profiles to Liverpool to increase their chances of meeting a football fan in the area – so they can get their tickets from them when Taylor plays there in June 2024.

One Twitter user wrote: ‘If you’re a single man in Liverpool and you’ve got an LFC season ticket, Tinder and Hinge are going to be crazy for you.
‘Every girl is looking for a guy with one so they can get their Taylor Swift tickets. I give these girls full respect for their effort in getting tickets.’
Another said: ‘I swipe right on Tinder when they say they have Taylor Swift tickets. No luck yet. I’ll totally match with someone terrible for me to be arm candy at the show.’
Tickets for Taylor’s Eras tour, currently on its US leg, have been notoriously difficult to buy because of the ‘unprecedented level’ of demand combined with the use of bots.
Robots that can imitate human activity on the internet on a large scale have been used to purchase limited-edition tickets and re-sell them at a higher cost.
Last year American politicians were forced to intervene after millions of Swifties were unable to buy Eras tickets after the Ticketmaster site crashed due to bots overwhelming the site.
Around 320 fans filed a lawsuit against Ticketmaster’s parent-company Live Nation for at least £1,900 for selling tickets to bots.
To tackle the problem in the UK, a highly convoluted booking system has been set up by Ticketmaster to reduce the number of fans accessing ticket sales.
Pre-sale tickets were available for people who had pre-ordered the Midnight’s album before it came out or Liverpool season ticket holders.
Taylor is set to perform five Wembley shows on top of her two Liverpool performances next summer, finishing in London on 17 August.
