Taylor Swift has revealed that her 10-minute track All Too Well was formed from an ad-libbed rehearsal session during a “sad and upsetting” time in her life.
The breakup ballad is rumored to be about her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal, whom she parted ways in 2010 after a two-month romance.
Although Taylor has never confirmed whether the song is about Jake, during an appearance on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon, she admitted that she was going through a rough time in life when she wrote it in 2011.

Taylor explained: “I showed up for rehearsals and I was just really upset and sad, and everyone could see that it was really no fun being around me that day.
“So I started playing guitar and played the same four chords over and over.
“And I just started, kind of, the band joined in and I started talking about what I was going through and what I was feeling, and it just went on and on, and the song kept building and building and building in intensity, and the song just went on.” for about 10 to 15 minutes that we did this.’
While Taylor wrote the song in 2011, a new 10-minute version of the disintegrating ballad is featured on the re-recording of her 2012 album Red.

Elsewhere in the show, Taylor revealed that the 10-minute version of All Too Well is the song she’s most excited about for her fans to hear.
