Fast-paced shopping: Taylor Swift’s Eras tour boosted sales at Edinburgh and Liverpool stores
Taylor Swift failed to dispel the gloom on the streets of Britain despite the excitement surrounding her Eras Tour.
According to data from BRC Sensormatic IQ, the number of buyers fell by 2.3 percent in June compared to last year.
Edinburgh stores were 2.4 per cent busier, while Liverpool’s were up 1.1 per cent, thanks to the pop star’s performance there.
But in London, where Swift played three nights, levels were down 2.5 percent as wet weather deterred shoppers.
And in Cardiff, where a concert was held, levels fell by 5.1 percent.
It is understood that many fans will have turned to online retailers to purchase outfits for the shows.
Major brands such as H&M have already said the bad weather has hit sales. The figures come as retail leaders prepare to call for measures to boost physical stores.
