Andy Reid has offered his take on why Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce work as a couple, with the Chiefs coach explaining that the relationship is an “escape” for both of them.

Since they began dating publicly last fall, Swift and Kelce have been fixtures at each other’s games and concerts respectively, and Reid believes they’ve both enjoyed taking a backseat at times.

“He can handle it. I think he’s got a great chance to escape,” Reid began on The Athletic’s ‘Scoop City’ podcast.

“I said the same thing about Taylor. I mean, she comes to the game and she can escape having to be the center of attention. And when he goes to her concerts, she’s the star and he can be there and be her support or her water boy.”

Travis has been following Taylor around Europe during the offseason on her Eras Tour, and the Chiefs tight end even joined her onstage at Wembley Stadium in London.

While Kelce may not be joining Swift onstage again anytime soon, he did open up about his cameo during a recent episode of her podcast, New Heights.

“It’s not like me,” Kelce told his brother Jason. “I’m not a big musician and I don’t like getting up on stage. There were so many people there, I didn’t really feel at home.”

He also explained how the performance came about.

There had previously been speculation he might hang up his boots amid his high-profile relationship with Swift and with his brother Jason, 36, retiring after a stellar career with the Eagles.
