Taxi driver stabbed in attempted armed robbery in Townsville while working at cemetery
A taxi driver stabbed during a suspected armed robbery while working at the cemetery has been rushed to hospital.
The driver, 69, came into contact with his attacker on Carr Street in Hermit Park, Townsville at around 3.20am on Friday.
Police said the driver was stabbed with a “bladed weapon” before attempting to reverse, causing the attacker to flee the scene.
Paramedics said the victim had been stabbed in the abdomen.

Paramedics said the victim was stabbed in the abdomen and police are now searching for the knife which is still at large (pictured).
They alerted authorities to what had happened when the victim was taken to Townsville University Hospital.
Police have now established a crime scene and are searching for the attacker who is still at large.
They are urging anyone who saw the attack or has dashcam footage to contact police.
