The summer festival season in Chicago has already been announced. The big news: Taste of Chicago will have three pre-events in Chicago neighborhoods over the summer, and then it will be held in Grant Park from September 8-10. In June there will be the Chicago Blues Festival in Millennium Park, the Chicago Air and Water Show on August 19 and 20 and the Chicago Jazz Festival in late summer.
The announcement Monday by Mayor Lori Lightfoot and the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events puts to rest some of the speculation about the impact of the inaugural NASCAR Chicago Street Race at Grant Park and the lake over Holiday weekend. of the independence. Although the Taste is brought earlier than this date, three neighboring events will also take place last summer, as well as the Grant Park Food and Music Festival in July. Musical acts have yet to be announced.
“I am delighted that the Taste of Chicago, our city’s most beloved music and food festival, is back, along with an incredible series of free cultural events throughout the city throughout the season,” Lightfoot said in the announcement.
Other returning events include the Millennium Park Gospel Music Festival, the Summer Film Series and SummerDance.
“Rest assured, summer is upon us,” DCASE Commissioner Erin Harkey said in part of the announcement.
