A teenager who was allegedly ambushed by a group of machete-wielding men believed he was going to die just hours before his birthday dinner.

Rhyan Singh, 16, and a friend were allegedly attacked by a group of up to eight armed men while playing basketball in Tarneit, west Melbourne, on Thursday.

The teen was allegedly stabbed multiple times in the hands, arms, back, and ribs before being struck in the back of the head.

A teenager, Rhyan Singh (pictured), believed he was going to die after a gang of up to eight people allegedly stabbed him and his friend to death on his 16th birthday on Thursday.

Both teens were rushed to the hospital where they remain under treatment for their injuries.

The group allegedly ordered Mr. Singh and his friend to hand over their phones, cash and a pair of Mr. Singh’s Air Jordans, which they had just given him for his birthday.

CCTV footage acquired by Seven shows Mr. Singh’s parents arriving on the scene while paramedics were treating him.

A man can be heard in the background screaming in pain before his parents arrive, yelling, ‘that’s my son.’

The teenager told his mother ‘mommy I love you, I think I’m dying, I’ve been stabbed, I think I’m dying’.

His mother, Sushma Manandhar, told Seven that they had just bought his favorite cheesecake when his ‘world collapsed’.

“(It’s not) fair…we were planning for his birthday,” she said.

‘If people like that are around, how can we feel safe for our children? They are not human.’
